After a sight-seeing tour, visiting artists, writers, architects and filmmakers together with Kharkiv colleagues began work in six creative residences. One of the grounds for the experiment is the largest Kharkiv enterprise Turboatom where artists will paint five walls, Segodnya informs (RU).
“The guys from Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk, in principle, do not know the factory subjects – for them it is all a novelty, so their sketches are lighter. Kharkivens’ sketches have better graphic quality. The artist will depict the turbines, the myth of their birth, and a person who stands at the head of all this metal and technology,” told the coordinator of the residence, Dean of the Faculty of modern art of Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts, Daria Khrisanfova.
Another residence for artists works in the contemporary art center ErmilovCenter, and its members are preparing the exhibition and study of opposites. Lviv and Kharkiv filmmakers create a joint film group and shoot documentary short films about urban problems of modern Kharkiv, which they plan to present at film festivals.
The project GalitsiyaKult also has a children’s creative residence. Young readers of the regional library for children with animators from Ivano-Frankivsk create animated films.
In general, artists will work on projects up to August 23. Some works will be presented on City Day, and all projects will present at the forum Transcending Borders: GaliciaKult, which will be held in Kharkiv in October.
