Within the next few days 10 renewed trams will be launched on routes with new passenger compartments and the aggregate components. According to the Deputy Mayor Eugene Vodovozov, in total 200 trams are in need of repairs, 50 of them will be renewed this year.
“Some people are skeptical about the repair of trams and say that we need to buy new ones. But there is a huge difference in the price: 50 repaired trams cost as two new ones. And one new tram carries a price of one million euros,” explained Eugene Vodovozov.
The experts assure that the renewed electric trams will spend by 10-15% less of electric energy than old ones.
