Social standards improving: minimum wage increases

From December 1, 2016 the living wage and minimum wage will be increased by 10% in Ukraine, the Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman announced April 28 at a government meeting.

He noted the country has financial resources for such needs.

“We have calculated our capabilities and see that we have an ability to increase social standards for Ukrainians,” said the PM.

BACKGROUND: On May 1, 2016 the living wage and the minimum wage will be increased by 6%, up to 1450 UAH. On December 1, 2016 it was planned also to increase it by 6%, up to 1550 UAH.

Given the new announcement of Groisman, on December 1, 2016 the size of the above social standards could reach 1600 UAH.
