Show must go on: Kernes trial postponed to August

The hearing on the case of the mayor of Kharkiv Gennady Kernes was held in Poltava, July 28.

During the session, the judge approved a request from the defendant’s lawyers, who claimed that the state of mayor’s health prevents from a meeting lasting more than 2 hours.

“Transportation of Gennady Kernes takes about three hours, here we are already 3.5 hours. Some of the previous hearings lasted 6 hours. I believe that this violence against the defendant” – commented advocate Yulia Pletneva.

The next hearing on Kernes case was scheduled on 26 August.

According to Kharkiv activists, the chairman judge Antonov goes on a vocation, so the meeting was postponed for a month.

Recall that the trial is postponed for the fourth time.

Information: Kharkiv Mayor Gennady Kernes is charged in kidnapping with his direct participation of two Euromaydan participants Sergey Ryapolov and Alexander Kutyanin in February 2014.

Kernes denies his guilt and calls all the charges as falsification and revenge of Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov.
