On December 28th, 2015 the company Vodafone Ukraine launched the first 3G network in Kharkiv. Since the launch, one and a half months of 3G, Kharkivens became the leaders in the mobile Internet consumption, ahead of even the residents of the capital, as the press service of the operator reported.
It is noteworthy that the first 3G launch was held in Kharkiv Metro, then the operator began to introduce the technology across the country. Since the launch of the network overall daytime 3G traffic consumption in the Vodafone network increased by 33.6%, while for the year the volume of information transmitted in the mobile network increased by 5 times.
“In mid-November we were ready to launch, waiting for the test results: if we hinder or not frequencies of the military. On December 28 we launched 3G in Kharkiv. We launched the network in all regional centers completely from scratch and built carpeted network,” said the technical director of Vodafone Ukraine Andrey Tereshchuk.
Today 35% of the population of Ukraine is able to use 3G network, by the end of the year this figure will increase to 50%.
