The Ministry of Finance sent a letter to the Ministry of Education with a proposal to cancel next year scholarships and transfer to masters studying to the contract.
This was revealed by Director of the Department of Higher Education, Oleg Sharov.
“There are will be two types of scholarships: academic and social. Academic will be given for the real achievements (scientific activities, participation in contests and competitions – Ed.). The rest of scholarships will be called social, and assigned to disadvantaged students,” offered the expert on education reform Vladimir Bakhrushin.
The coordinator of the public initiative “Student Protection” Andrey Chernukh assured: “Cancellation of scholarships and a budget form of studying in the existing conditions in the country could lead to a social explosion in the student environment. This is absolutely unacceptable.”
