Tonight, May 18, Ukraine has completed the formal process of accession to the World Trade Organization Agreement on Government Procurement (WTO GPA).

According to the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development (UA), from this day Ukrainian companies have the right to participate in public procurement with 45 GPA member countries, including: EU, Japan, US, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong and Canada and others.

This allows Ukrainian business to take part in public procurement in other countries. At the same time, foreigners will have full access to the Ukrainian government tenders as well as to foreign Ukrainians.

frgDeputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Maxim Nefedov said: “This is the simplest way for the export of domestic goods; public tendering procedures are clearly structured. Everything you need is to find an interesting tender and place an order.”

The total market of the WTO government procurement is estimated at $1.7 trillion annually.

BACKGROUND: WTO and government procurement – constitutes a significant market and an important aspect of international trade. The WTO’s work on government procurement aims to promote transparency, integrity and competition in this market.
