A large-scale reconstruction of Taras Shevchenko Park is to begin shortly.
City authorities plan to install new lighting in the garden, benches, bins, toilets, make a new pavement and build a well-room, reports the city council’s press service.
Head architect Sergey Chechelnitsky said there would also be an increase in greenery. “We will plant new trees, shrubs, lawns, flowerbeds and trees of protected precious species,” he added.
“If Gorky Park is a recreational and entertaining park, Shevchenko Park will be a rest-park where Kharkiv residents and visitors can go for a walk, enjoy nature.”
Recently a bridge near the fountain was overhauled last year.
