Arseniy Yatsenyuk has announced his decision to resign from his current position as the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
He stated this in a video address to the Ukrainian Natio channel (UA). Such a step was expected as the Government crisis became very tense over the last weeks.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk says he will submit the appropriate statement to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on April 12 and expect that all MPs will support his decision to resign by voting.
He admits he does not plan to leave politics as he remains the head of the 2nd largest party in Ukrainian Parliament “Narodnuy Front”.
Parliamentary speaker Volodymyr Groysman has been nominated by Poroshenko’s party as the most expected to replace Yatsenyuk.
