Kharkiv Mayor Gennadiy Kernes responded to the e-petition with the proposal to introduce garbage sorting. The petition has collected more than one thousand signatures, informs the press service of the City Council.
As stated in the response of the mayor, the solution of this issue is comprehensive and covers not only the collection of waste, but also sorting and preparation for recycling.
Currently, the city is preparing for the introduction of separate waste collection, which includes the gradual replacement of existing containers with euro-containers, as well as replacing of old garbage trucks (27 modern machines have been already purchased).
In addition, governors plan to construct a complex for recycling solid waste.
As noted in response to the petition, separate waste collection will cause getting at least 40 thousand tons of recycled materials per year.
Provided measures are implemented in the framework of the joint investment project in cooperation with the World Bank “Development of urban infrastructure – 2”.
