Direction of the International Airport “Kharkiv” (IAK) is conducting negotiations with the airline company “Austrian Airlines” to resume direct regular flights Kharkiv-Vienna.
According to the director general who manages the airport of the company “New Systems AM” Vladimir Vasilchenko, the delegation of the airport returned from negotiations, during which they persuaded the air carrier management in the reasonability of the resumption of flights which were carried out over 12 years.
“We convince them to return the flight which they have used for over 12 years … They gave us hope that it will be possible in autumn of 2016,” said Vladimir Vasilchenko at a press conference.
According to him, it is also conducting negotiations with airline “Fly Dubai” about the resumption of flights to Saudi Arabia. The flights were cancelled in 2014 because of the interdiction of UAE (United Arab Emirates) aviation authorities.
According to Vasilchenko, the prospects for the development of Kharkiv airport primarily depend on the abolition of the visa regime with the EU.
It will be recalled that flights to Vienna have been cancelled after the outbreak of the conflict in Donbas.
