A Kharkiven Catherine Monzul was recognized by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) as the world’s best female referee in 2015, as the press service of IFFHS reported.
In the survey conducted in 50 countries, Monzul received tremendous specialists’ support. According to voting results the Ukrainian scored 114 points, 79 more than the winner of the previous two years Bibiana Steinhaus from Germany. Before the 34-year-old woman Kharkiven three times entered the top five of the best referee.
Monzul has been working on international matches since 2005. in July 2015 she served the final Women’s World Championship between the US and Japan, and the year before she refereed the finals of Women’s Champions League. It should also be noted that in 2011 Catherine served matches of the championship of Ukraine among men’s teams of the first league.
Catherine Monzul was born in Kharkiv in 1981. She became the first Ukrainian female referee trapped in the elite category of the FIFA referees.
