The Chairman of Kharkiv Regional State Administration (KRSA) discussed the plans for cooperation between Kharkiv and the Republic of Lithuania in the economic sphere, education and healthcare during the meeting with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Lithuania in Ukraine Marius Janukonis.

Kharkiv region is the largest university center which is one of the top ten university centers in Europe. We have 24 universities and a large number of students. We were the first in Ukraine who initiated the creation of the University Consortium which unites all the universities. And as a part of the consortium we will make high education in the territory of the Kharkiv region truly European with your help,” said Igor Rainin.

Marius Janukonis noted that between Lithuania and Kharkiv region was established strong partnership which became active after the opening of Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania in Kharkiv on November 18th.

“We are pleased that today we can open the Honorary Consulate in Kharkiv which we wanted to open long ago. We know your potential – academic, scientific, industrial and investment. We hope that our Honorary Consulate will be engaged in concrete affairs and projects that are necessary for people, business and education. Our universities are cooperating, we have business communications, and want to expand them, because we think the potential and possibilities here are huge,” said Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Lithuania in Ukraine.

During the meeting, Igor Rainin presented the industrial, agricultural and scientific potential of the region and assured the Lithuanian delegation that safety for investors in Kharkiv region is guaranteed, as reported the website of KRSA.
