ATO fighters have for the first time got bionic prostheses without leaving the Ukraine, reports Channel 5 (UK).
Three seriously injured combatants have already received bionic prostheses of foreign production, another five wait their turn.
Earlier ATO soldiers with amputations had to travel for a few weeks abroad, and the state had to pay for travel and accommodation. On correction or prosthetic service combatants were supposed to go at their own expense.
At the moment, in Ukraine were prepared three professionals in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Lviv, who can fix bio-prosthesis and myoelectric prosthesis from the elbow.
“Fighter do not need to go abroad, he can get the prosthesis here, in Ukraine. We buy it for our money, this is a big cost, but we now can spend more than two million on one limb,” said the head of the State service of Ukraine for war veterans and ATO members Arthur Derevianko.
The average cost of a bionic prosthesis is from 20,000-50,000 EUR. Today, sophisticated prosthetics are needed for 24 Ukrainian soldiers.
