The nomination committee has selected a CEO for Ukrzaliznytsia – Wojciech Balczun (UA), reports Ministry of the Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine.
“Wojciech is a young, but super successful manager of a number of large Polish companies. For example, he reached career heights, leading the Polish Railways PKP Cargo“, commented the appointment the Minister of Economic Development and trade Aivaras Abromavičius.
The new head of “Ukrzaliznytsia” will have a rather big salary – up to $1.5 million per year.
According to Abromavicius, 25% of this amount is a fixed salary, the rest the head of “Ukrzaliznytsia” can get as bonuses for achieving certain goals.
The head of the Ministry of Economic Development emphasized: “Wojciech Balczun won the staff competition, but now it is necessary that the Cabinet of Ministers approve his candidacy at a meeting of the government as soon as possible.”
BACKGROUND: Earlier this year Ministry of Economic Development announced a competition for positions of heads of 6 key state-owned companies, including the “Ukrposhta”, “Ukrspirt”, “Electrovazhmash”, “Ukrzaliznytsia” and a number of energy companies.
Balczun was the head of the largest Polish bank PKO, headed the Supervisory Board of LOT Polish Airlines and is leader of the rock group Chemia (Eng – Chemistry).
