The novel of the famous Ukrainian writer Sergei Zhadan “Mesopotamia” entered the list of the top 10 books in December 2015 according to Austrian television ORF.
In his new novel “Mesopotamia” Zhadan portrays a modern Babylon: his hometown Kharkiv. When he had already finished his novel, nobody thought about the Maidan. When he was he on a reading tour, the war had already begun. It tells the story of different people who live in “Mesopotamia”: the area between the Ukrainian Dnepr in the West and the Russian Don in the East.
Books by Slovenian writer Drago Jančar, Romanian – Gheorghe Dragoman and Russian – Oleksander Ilichevsky and others also entered the list of the best.
Recall that the book “Mesopotamia” became the winner of Central European Literature Award “Angelus.”
