Ukrainian national team will play in the European Championship 2016! For the first time in its history, Ukraine has passed the play-offs. On aggregate, our team overcame Slovenia. On Saturday in Lviv (Ukraine) Mikhail Fomenko‘s team won with a score 2:0, and after that they made a nervy 1-1 draw at away match in Slovenia (Yarmolenko, 90+7 – Cesar, 11).
The main point is not be satisfied with only the fact of joining the Euro 2016 and realize Ukrainians’ potential. How the team of Ukraine did in 2006, achieved the World Cup quarterfinals.
Moreover, among the 24 participants of the European Championships Ukraine isn’t an outsider. At a draw on December 12th our team will be in the second basket, so we won’t meet Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Austria, and Croatia.
Czech Republic, Sweden, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary are in the third basket, and Turkey, Ireland, Iceland, Wales, Albania, Northern Ireland are in the fourth one. Ukraine should learn from France, Spain, Germany, England, Portugal, and Belgium how to take points away.
After the first victory in the play-offs, Ukraine expects its team to access the 1/8 finals. In 2016 it will be easier than before, because not only the first two teams of six groups, but four best teams which take the third place enter the 1/8 finals.
