Kharkiv has issued a bid to hold next year’s Eurovision contest.
It is the fifth city – Kyiv, Lviv, Dnipro, Odessa besides – to express a desire to hold the contest, informs the director general of the National Television Company of Ukraine Zurab Alasania on Facebook.
All cities received a list of conditions and signed an agreement not to disclose it for security reasons.
The organizing committee of the international song contest in cooperation with the European Broadcasting Union will examine the suitability of each city according to specific criteria. The results will be announced August 1.
Here are some requirements for the city:
- direct flights from European countries
- 5,000 hotel rooms for an “average price”
- Indoor Arena, which holds at least 5,000 people
BACKGROUND: Jamala won “Eurovision-2016” in Stockholm receiving 534 points with the song “1944”. After that, the residents of Kharkiv sent petitions to the Mayor and City Council with a request to hold the next competition in Kharkiv.
