Kharkiv city council is to create an inter-factional association that will advocate gender equality in all spheres of life, Interfax-Ukraine reports (RU).
“I would like to inform about the initiative of creating inter-factional association with the aim of political and gender equality development in various spheres of social and political life of our city, the overall advancement of women in society and achieving equal representation of women and men in all spheres of decision-making in our City Council. We invite to join this initiative not only women but also men, not to create an association of extreme feminist club,” announced at a session the deputy Marina Mezentseva (“Samopomich”) on July 6.
Today considered two names for the association “Equality and Justice” and “Equal Partnership”.
The initiative was supported by Kharkiv mayor Gennady Kernes.
“I will enter to your group, I promise you… To support such an initiative, I promised publicly,” said Kernes.
Documents required for the creation of inter-faction association, will be prepared for the next session of the City Council.
