Ukraine’s fashionistas head to Kharkiv


Fashion students from ten educational units will present their clothing designs at an art festival on May 19.

Slobozhanska vyshyvanka parade will be held in Kharkiv, Kharkiv Crisis Infocenter reports (RU).

Organizers invited Kharkiv universities to participate and students’ manufactured designs will be presented on the day.

Schoolchildren will also present photos of traditional Ukrainian embroidered shirts from the family archives.

llll“We want to show that in Kharkiv, it is fashionable to be Ukrainian. I wish young people wore embroidered shirts,” says member of the Union of Designers of Ukraine Svetlana Bagriy.

At the festival there will be talks about Slobozhanskiy traditions, cookery shows on national dishes, displays of ancient and modern embroideries, the KPI choir will perform and in a special photo zone, it will be possible to make a souvenir photo.

There will also be master classes, a fashion-show of modern collections in ethnic style and a drawing contest. Celebrations begin 16:00 in the Taras Shevchenko Park.

At 18:00 a Multinational heart of Kharkiv action will see participants in embroidered shirts creating the heart of the most tolerant city of Ukraine.

At 18:30, there will be a planned flash mob – large-scale performance of Slobozhanskiy folk dance.

At 19:00 Youth Symphony Orchestra “Slobozhanskiy” will give a concert.
