Two years on, and still no conclusive evidence has been reached over the attempted assassination of Kharkiv Mayor Gennady Kernes, said that two years after the attempt the investigation had not reached any results, reports the City Hall press service (RU).
“No attention to this deal, as I understand, no investigative-operational measures carried out. When I returned after treatment from Israel in summer 2014, I met with an investigator of the regional prosecutor’s office. I was interviewed and that’s all,” Kernes said.
Commenting on possible motives of the assassination and inaction of the investigation, the mayor said he sees the interest of the Ministry of Interior officials had stopped.
According to him, much more attention and efforts are focused on the accusations against him that is currently being heard in the Kiev District Court of Poltava.
“Nineteen best Major Case Investigators of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine are engaged in this business. Without a shred of evidence, they make me an organizer, convicted, and the main enemy,” said Kernes.
