An international five-day camp for children to learn more about music is being brought to Kharkiv for the first time.
A total of 300 children, aged 11 to 15 years of age, will be able to learn to sing and play musical instruments at the Music Camp International for five days (April 2-6).
The initiative, developed by US-based Constance Fortunato, a musician and educator of more than 40 years, will engage children five hours per day studying choral singing and playing two instruments from a choice of guitar, violin, cello, flute, clarinet, or bells.
They will then perform a concert as part of the camp’s finale.
Project coordinator Darina Belianska said it was decided to expand the camp to the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions as it had been held in central and western Ukraine for the past 14 years.
“We focus on the fact that all children should have equal opportunities so children of the correct age can take part in the project,” Belianska added.
Parents need to fill out a registration form on the website of a charitable fund “Kharkiv with you“. Application is open until March 7, 17.00.
Classes begin April 2 on the premises of KNURE and the final concert is scheduled for April 7 at Kharkiv National Academic Opera and Ballet.
