January 13, the Anti-Corruption Forum was held in the Kharkiv Crisis InfoCenter. Chairman of the Odessa regional administration Mikheil Saakashvili took part in the event.
During the conference, the governor of the Odessa region said that in his opinion it is necessary to change the system completely, so that one corrupt official is not replaced with another.
“Almost all the laws in Ukraine are made so nothing is made for people but a lot “for themselves.” Doing something good in Ukraine is possible only if ten officials wanted this to be done. This almost never occurs. Except when there is some interest in corruption. You can not create a new social program, if someone is not interested in this specifically,” said Mikheil Saakashvili during the press conference.
In addition, one of the activists asked the Chairman when he plans to “consider” the mayor of Kharkiv Gennady Kernes. Saakashvili responded: “All corrupt officials think that they are irreplaceable, they are important, but as soon as the real system changes, they will disappear. Under the current system, one corrupt official is changed for another”.
According to him, Ukraine’s political class does not love his own country and did not believe in its future. Having been at the front, he saw the contrast, where politicians and generals huge villa, while the patriots living in front is not even the most necessary things. “In Georgia, we took home from the officials and leaders of organized gangs. We gave them to children’s homes, and so on. But it was in Georgia may be a few hundred, there are thousands of them. I’m sure that will be a new political class, people finally learn to be responsible for their actions,” Saakashvili said.
