On December 17 at the National University of Civil Defence of Ukraine was held a ceremony of awarding employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) – participants of the antiterrorist operation.
For honourable service and allegiance to a country, courage and personal contribution to the liberation of the eastern territory of Ukraine from terrorist groups, 30 rescuers of the agencies and units of SESU who served in the ATO area in 2015 were awarded. The rescues are from Dnepropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporozhye, Lugansk, Poltava and Kharkiv regions, as well as representatives of the Interregional center of fast response SES of Ukraine.
The rescuers were awarded Differences of All-Ukrainian Association of war veterans and civil protection – the order of “Honor and Glory”, the medal “For Valor and Bravery”, the medal “Hero-Rescuer” and the medal “For Courage in a Fire.”
The Rector of the National University of Civil Defense of Ukraine Vladimir Sadkovoy thanked the rescuers for excellent service and wished everybody peace and harmony. “What you have done deserve the highest awards. Every day you risk your life for the people, for peace in our country. I wish harmony to your families and less difficulties in your life,” appealed to the rescues Vladimir Sadkovoy.
After the awarding ceremony the students of the university and the personnel of the departments of SESU held a minute of silence to honor dead servicemen in the ATO area.
Note that during the antiterrorist operation in the Donbas 17 rescuers were killed, two of them – the graduates of the National University of Civil Defense of Ukraine.
