Kharkiv volunteers began to form the database of free accommodation where internally displaced persons (IDPs) can settle in. The activists of volunteer organization “Prolisok” with the support of the charitable foundation “Vidrodzhennia” plan to prepare more than 100 places for potential settlement of IDPs by January 1, 2016.

“A year and a half we have engaged in helping the Ukrainians who reside in the conflict zone. Naturally that people who have lost their homes in Donbas wonder where they should go. As a result, we began to collect information about houserooms which people are ready to give on long-term gratuitous lease or transfer to the permanent possession of IDPs,” said volunteer Eugene Caplin.

According to him, the database already contains about 45 places for a potential settlement. As a rule, the proposed accommodations are located in countryside of the Kharkiv region but there are also objects in the Kherson and Vinnitsa regions. Unfortunately there are several-fold more requests from the IDPs. For now volunteers have received 900 requests for assistance.

The volunteers go to a place to get acquainted with the conditions of accommodation or ask to send photos before registering a houseroom in the database. According to Eugene Caplin, the majority of houses are in need of repair, and often there is no technique. Therefore, volunteers also launched a program of address collection of help for IDPs which has already delivered benefits.

The volunteers put a list of available housing on the site. The Ukrainians who want to give houserooms for IDPs can also send an application on this site.
