Education officials in one of the districts of Kharkiv bought food for schoolchildren at over-inflated prices and harmed the state in the amount of 1,25 million hryvnias, informed the press service of the prosecutor’s office in Kharkiv region on October 26th.
According to the chief of the prosecutor’s office of Kharkiv region Ruslan Vakhitov, the pre-trial investigation established that on buying food (potatoes, bread, beef, fermented milk and milk products) for schools in one of the districts of the city, officials signed contracts with a number of entrepreneurs on the delivery of products at an over-inflated prices in 2014.
“The prices of food for school and preschool children were significantly higher than the market ones. As a result more than 1,250 million hryvnias of budgetary funds was overspent,” said Ruslan Vakhitov.
According to the press service of the regional prosecutor’s office, the criminal proceedings on the fact of abuse of power by officials of the Department of Education of one of the districts of Kharkiv, led to serious consequences (Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) was launched.
