Filmgoers in Kharkiv will be in for a treat later this month – as it is to host part of an international film festival.
The American Film Festival of Independent Film Production, supported by the US Embassy to Ukraine, will be held in Kharkiv from May 26 – June 1, the organizers reported.
It will be part of the Festival of American Cinema of Independence that begins May 20 in Kyiv.
This year, the festival brings the best and newest American independent films to Ukrainian viewers. These traditionally consist of documentary and narrative programs.
The documentary program includes nine films, while the narrative program consists of six award-winning films. They have featured at other prestigious festivals, such as Sundance and Tribeca.
All movies will be shown in their original language with Ukrainian subtitles.
In addition to Kyiv and Kharkiv, the movies will be shown in Odessa and Lviv. In Kharkiv, the festival will take place at the cinema “8 1/2”. Screening schedule will appear soon on the festival website and the cinema websites.
