The Secretary General of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, Andreas Kiefer, is to make a working visit to Kharkiv on March 4.
He will come at the invitation of Chairman of the Kharkiv Regional Council Sergey Chernov, the council’s press service said.
Kiefer will take part in a meeting of the Association of local authorities of Kharkiv region, visit the museum of local government in Derzhprom, visit the modular camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs), and communicate with the students of Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv.
The Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, founded in 1957, is the European political assembly representing local and regional authorities from the 47 member states of the Council of Europe.
Its role is to promote local and regional democracy, improve local and regional governance and strengthen authorities’ self-government, according to the principles laid down in the European Charter of Local Self-Government.
