The Deputy Head of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration of the United States (NASA), William Gerstenmaier, will make an official visit to Ukraine on November 19-20th, as the NASA press service reported.
In the history of Ukrainian-American relationships relating to the space sector this visit will be the first official visit of the NASA authorities to Ukraine. The purpose of the visit is an expansion of bilateral cooperation in the space sphere and realization of promising projects.
The delegation will hold meetings with the leadership of the State Space Agency of Ukraine, and visit the leading Ukrainian space-rocket companies: “Yuzhnoye” and “Yuzhmash”. Both plants are located in Dnepropetrovsk.
An agreement between the governments of Ukraine and the United States on cooperation in the exploration and usage of outer space for peaceful purposes was signed in 1994 and extended in 2008. Among the promising projects there is an international project of a new NASA middle class launch vehicle “Antares”. The Ukrainian space industry offers cooperation in the field of rocket engine technology.
