Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs, Arsen Avakov, announced this at the government session. Kharkiv patrol police (800 people) will solemnly take the oath on September 26th at Liberty Square.
Also, on Facebook, Avakov said: “The second stream – 270 people, who passed the competitive selection, will start training on September 30th. In total, about 1,100 police officers will work in the renewed Kharkiv patrol police”. According to him, many other regional centers of Ukraine will get new patrol police this month.
Note that tomorrow, September 4th, the Minister arrives in Kharkiv together with US Ambassador to the Ukraine, Geoffrey R. Pyatt. They plan to visit one of Kharkiv universities and to name the new chief of Kharkiv police.
Recall Verkhovna Rada adopted the Law on the National Police on July 2nd. It defines the legal bases of the organization and status of the police. It is expected that soon all current bodies of militia in Ukraine will be reformed to police.
