On the Physical-Technical Faculty of Karazin Kharkiv National University was held graduate thesis defense of students who worked over master’s thesis in France and passed research traineeship at the Laboratory of linear accelerators of the University of Paris-11 (Orsay), reports the website of the university (RU).
According to the university, diploma work of Maxim Malovitsia “Comparison of the incoherent Smith-Purcell radiation models for different parameters”, made in the framework of LIA IDEATE, devoted to the study of coherent radiation of relativistic electrons in periodic structures of macroscopic dimensions (Smith-Purcell radiation).
The university said that the work may be useful for creation of infra-red radiation source of high intensity, its use in free-electron lasers, as well as for diagnostics of charged particle beams. The obtained results will be used in the analysis of experimental data on the accelerators SOLEIL (France) and the SLAC (USA).
In the framework of the cooperation of the Physical-Technical Faculty of Karazin University with the University of Paris-11, another student Tatiana Moscalets passed an internship at the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics and Laboratory of accelerative technology, the result of which was a joint publication with French scientists.
