Catherine Monzul made her scandal debut as a referee

A 34-year-old Catherine Monzul from Kharkiv became the first woman running the main arbiter in a football match of “Ukrainian Premier League” (UPL) held  on April 3 in Odessa.

The female referee unhesitatingly removed Odessа’s captain Artem Filimonov without paying attention to the players of “Chernomorets” who rushed to her with protests.

The most memorable feature of this tour for fans will be the fact that for the first time in the history of the Ukrainian football the elite division matches will be served by a woman – Catherine Monzul, FFU writes (UA).

BACKGROUND Since 2004 Catherina Monzul has being worked as FIFA referee having earned a very serious credibility outside of Ukraine.

In 2014, she was entrusted to the final Women’s Champions League, according to the ranking IFFHS-2014 the Ukrainian ranked second in the world. In 2015 Monzul held four matches of Women’s World Cup in Canada, including the final match, then IFFHS named her the best referee of the world among women.
