Kharkivens have a chance to listen to alternative folk from Boston and learn about how the USA promotes its music culture abroad. On March 2nd, Laura Cortese & The Dance Cardsat will give a free concert at “Fabrica space“.
Laura Cortese & The Dance Cards consists of a violinist, cellist and vocalist performing indie folk, mixed on bluegrass, country and Celtic music in modern arrangements.
The girls will come to Kharkiv under the program American Music Abroad. Every year the American association selects ten bands to represent American music in other countries with concerts, interactive performances with local musicians, workshops and master classes.
The program is administered by the Association of American voices. The Ukrainian tour is supported by the US Embassy in Ukraine.
“We call the participants of this program “musical ambassadors of America”. For us it is extremely important that they are not limited to scenes of concert halls, and perform on democratic stages, interact with other musicians around the world. This interaction, exchange of musical experiences, joint experiments is very important way not only to “tell about us”, but also to enrich own culture and leave our mark on the music of other countries,” Reydzhin Stokes, deputy culture attaché at the US Embassy in Ukraine, said.
To get to Kharkiv concert of Laura Cortese & The Dance Cards, you just need to come on March 2nd at “Fabrica” (Blagovischenska Street, 1) and choose a convenient place.
