Military information portal MN announces that Ukraine preliminary contract with China for the purchase of light attack aircraft (training and combat aircraft) Hongdu L-15 for the needs of the Air Forces of Ukraine. Supersonic aircraft L-15, is a licensed copy of the newest Russian training and combat Yak-130. The aircraft is designed to train fighter pilots. It can also be used as a lightweight attack aircraft.
The main condition of the transaction is the localization assembly of military vehicles in Ukraine. The final assembly will be done at an aircraft factory “Odesaviaremservice” in Odessa. Aircraft is equipped with engines AI-222-25F that are available in Zaporizhia plant “Motor-Sich”. Control systems for these engines are delivered from the state-owned enterprise “Kharkiv machine-building plant “FED”, which is a part of the State Concern “Ukroboronprom”.
