“French Spring”, a traditional festival, will be held in Kharkiv on April 6-24.
As announced by a representative of the French Embassy in Ukraine Marie-Annick Dewar, on March 30, this year residents of large Ukrainian cities will be offered to get acquainted with a diverse and rich program which will demonstrate modern French culture trends.
French Spring in Kharkiv will begin on April 6 at the Kharkiv Art Museum with the opening of an exhibition of photographs by Alexandra Novoseloff and Frank Ness “Walls between people”.
The exhibition will include photographs from 10 countries, whose people for political and historical reasons are separated by walls.
The organizers paid careful attention to French cinema. On April 14-17 in the cinema “8½” will be held pre-releases, which haven’t even been shown in French cinemas.
On April 18-20 – a retrospective of films by Jacques Audiar will be shown, while on April 22-23 there will be a night session of French short films.
The festival will include tasting of wines from the Bordeaux region, the concert of the French band “Rhapsody”, an exhibition “Napoleon caricature of the XIX century” and it is planned to hold test drives of French cars.
Director of the NGO “Alliance Française” (FR) in Kharkiv, Timothée de Maillard, said that every year more Ukrainian partners participate to popularize the francophone culture.
“This is a great opportunity for all to work together on various projects in the fields of culture, media, exchange opinions and experience,” said de Maillard.
