Yesterday, on December 2nd, city officials headed by the mayor of Kharkiv Gennady Kernes, met with representatives of European banks. They discussed the Kharkiv Metro development program at the meeting.
The European Investment Bank may allocate 305 million EUR for the opening of the new station and an increase in train number. The money will be spent on the construction of the metro station “Odeska” electrodepot for “Oleksiivska” and the acquisition of 60 new cars to 12 trains.
“We want to extend the most convenient, secure and popular transport network – Metro. Therefore, we are interested in increasing the passenger traffic and the distance that Metro serves, so we appealed for help to the European banks,” said the mayor.
If the project is implemented, it will relieve the lines and reduce the harmful emissions, thus improve the environmental situation in Kharkiv.
Recall, construction of the station “Odeska” will be finished in 2019.
