A Kharkiv woman became a silver medalist of European Chess Championship

On November 12-22nd the European Championship Chess was held in Iceland where the Ukrainian team lost only to Georgian chess players. Ukraine defeated England, Poland, Italy, Romania, Austria, France and the Netherlands.

The Ukrainian team included a Kharkiven, Anna Ushenina, as well as Maria and Anna Muzychuk, Natalia Zhukova and Inna Gaponenko. They got 15 points in 9 rounds, as the press service of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration reported.

It is worth mentioning that Anna Ushenina is a well-known Ukrainian grand chess master among women. It isn’t the first time she brought home a victory. One of her most significant victories is that as the 14th woman in the chess history and the 1st among Ukrainian chess players she became a world champion (2012-2013).

Men’s national team of Ukraine, in contrast to girls, have not managed to get into the top three winners, the team result was 12 points and the fifth place.
