A Kharkiv powerlifter set up a world record

World Open Men’s Powerlifting Championships took place on November 9-15th in Hamm, Luxembourg. 202 athletes from 32 countries participated that competition.

Following the results, a Kharkiv powerlifter, Sergey Bilyi, won the gold medal with a world record in the weight category up to 93 kg, lifted in total 1022.5 kg.

In addition, Sergei took the 1st place in squat established an European record of 387.5 kg, won the 3rd place in bench pressing with the result of 285 kg, and took the 3rd place in deadlift with 350 kg result.

In the women competition Evgenia Tishakova took the 3rd place in powerlifting in the weight category up to 84 kg with a score of 607.5 kg. Evgenia was the second in squat with 252.5 kg result as well as in deadlift (220 kg), but in bench pressing she achieved only the seventh place (135 kg).
