Yesterday, on September 7th, passed the 7th court hearing on the case of the mayor of Kharkiv, Gennady Kernes, in the Kiev District Court of Poltava.

The Court did not proceed again. Lawyers voiced numerous petitions and pointed to procedural violations. The prosecutor demanded stricter preventive measure, and Ukrainian activists sang and danced outside the courthouse.

MP, member of the Radical Party, Igor Mosiychuk believes that the court delays the consideration of this case to give Kernes an opportunity of becoming mayor once again. He wrote the following on his Facebook.

“We can not delay the process. I’m asking that the charge does not indicate how we should build our defense line. We do not bring all this circus to the walls of the court building, the judge never had any complaints regarding our behavior opposing to the other side. This case has been fabricated in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and by both victims,” said Kernes.

The judge announced a break after more than four hours of court proceedings, till September 14th.

Recall that the past court session was held on August 26, but the judge of the Kiev District Court of Poltava, Andrei Antonov, postponed it for September 7th.
